Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Play an active role in the development of tax planning strategies, including those related to changing tax laws and regulations, obtaining tax savings, and increasing cash flow.
    • Identify, evaluate, and consult with tax advisors to best position the Company with respect to tax planning strategies.
    • Partner with accounting/finance and business personnel to identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
    • Partner with the parent company to help implement tax strategies and projects.
  • Manage special projects as assigned, including providing input and advice on day-to-day tax matters such as sales/use taxes.
  • Manage and coordinate Federal and State tax audits, including Sales and Use tax audits.  
    • Key liaison with revenue agents, including assisting in the documentation gathering process & other communications.  
  • Log, track and respond to notices and inquiries from all tax authorities which includes property taxes, licensing, and registrations.
  • Perform tax research for corporate planning purposes and for the determination of income, sales, and other tax compliance requirements.
  • Track use tax activity for the tax return.  Review monthly invoices and credit card activity for proper use tax application and accrue as necessary before month end.
  •  Manage the filing process to ensure accurate and timely filing of all returns.
    • Provide the required information used to complete all relevant direct and indirect tax returns to the tax preparer.
    • Reconcile tax data from the internal tax system and send the data to the tax preparer.
    • Prepare all ACH, check and direct debit payments.
    • Prepare monthly reconciliation and analysis of the general ledger tax accounts.
  • Calculate and make timely corporate estimated income tax payments for federal, state, and local tax authorities.
  • Calculate the annual income tax provision.
  • Maintenance and organization of documents and record retention for tax authorities.
  • Maintain and update tax calendar to ensure all tax return filing obligations and tax payment obligations are met timely.
  • Other duties as assigned including but not limited to administrative functions necessary to ensure proper supporting documentation.

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Strong understanding of both federal and state income taxes.
    • Experience with GILTI, FDII, BEAT, and 163J including technical knowledge of computations and tax forms on a separate company and consolidated basis.
  • Working knowledge of sales & use tax compliance, including exemption certificates. 
  • Proficiency with tax software applications and tax research tools.
  • SAP or other ERP end user experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Vertex tax technology is a plus.
  • Strong MS-Office including Word and Excel required.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and hands on approach.
  • Ability to work, collaborate and communicate across all levels of experience.
  • Ability to manage workload independently and be self-motivated.


Education and/or Experience

  • 5+ years of diverse tax accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting or Tax from four-year college or university is required
  • Master’s degree in Tax and/or CPA is a plus.
