Product and Sourcing Manager

Role Purpose

Product and Sourcing Manager, Greater China will be leading the sourcing function to support growth in Greater China market in Sales, Profit and ROS.


The role will manage a local team of Product Managers ensuring the completion of all required tasks, communicating business objectives and reviewing ongoing performance.  This will include also engaging relevant strategic and key suppliers to drive targeted business performance.


To manage the sourcing of Product Plus products, through best in class sourcing practices, strong commercial effectiveness, and positive/collaborative working relationships with both external Vendors and key stakeholders internal to Electrocomponents. Meanwhile compile sourcing resources (products/venders) and optimize process and cost.


The role will also partner with internal cross-functional teams of subject matter experts to understand, define and build effective solutions that generate measureable results.



APAC strategy execution

  • Provide the relevant voice of the “local” customer is represented within the Local and APAC strategies.
  • Manage the sourcing of Product Plus articles to provide the required level of profitability and service to support fulfilment of our Sales and customer strategy.
  • Follow up APAC Product Plus policy
  • Input and selection of articles for promotion for marketing campaigns. 
  • Localization of Product Content enabling our customer to easily find & buy the products they need
  • Produce monthly business reports on category and local business performance and transfer best practices globally.


Local and regional supplier engagement

  • Negotiation and realization of local supplier contracts and commercial terms in line with the APAC strategy, while working with Global teams.
  • Drive strategic supplier engagement within the aligned technology category to give RS a competitive advantage in terms of range, availability, total cost, innovation, cash flow & support.


Support sales, marketing & customers to drive strategy execution locally

  • Consult with regional & local cross functional teams to execute business plan and deliver our objectives, within the alignment from APAC Management and Global Division.  
  • Contribute in the local leadership meetings and provision of required business performance reporting while supporting Global, Regional & Local Sales & Marketing programmes.
  • Consult with pricing teams to ensure relevant collaboration are available to support execution of aligned pricing strategy execution enabling RS to win more business, maximise net profit and improve customers value perceptions.


Managing people & budgets

  • Ensure the deliverables on business objectives, business performance reviews, team meetings, appraisals and business reporting are completed on time and to Electrocomponents standard.
  • Provide leadership, training and create an environment which helps in people development and ensure members have the necessary resources to achieve their objectives.


Person Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably within relevant area).
  • 12+ years of proven experience within product management and supplier relationship management.
  • Significant experience within China, HK and Taiwan component sectors.
  • Strategic thinking ability with relevant strategic experience.
  • Experience on managing strategy supplier relationship and business plans.
  • Experience and capability to operate at/interact with senior level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to drive alignment across a Global matrix organisation, and effective matrix working within Division.
  • Demonstrate the ability to influence, challenge, negotiate, build credibility and work with integrity at all levels within the internal and external organisation.
  • Understanding and experience of e-commerce solutions within a B2B environment.
  • Understanding of procurement strategies within a business environment and able to articulate value solutions to support customer needs.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, and in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment.
  • Ability to communicate complex processes, problems, and solutions in a simple, compelling an accurate manner.
  • Think and lead strategically with a keen attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills; MS Office skills (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English.
