The role (snapshot)
The Regional Controller is a key role in our EMEA Finance organisation, providing strategic and tactical financial leadership for the EMEA region. This role holds overall accountability for the financial statements, ensuring completeness and accuracy of accounts and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will have responsibility for financial oversight, including being responsible for preparation of region’s balance sheet and cash flow forecast. 

You will manage a remote financial team and work closely with our Global Shared Business Services (GSBS) team, Group Finance and the leaders of the business units to facilitate accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency.

 

Key Accountabilities:
Accountable for the financial statements and ensuring accuracy of actual financial data 
Act as a second line of defence for controls management
Accountable and responsible for overseeing risk and controls, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
Accountable for local tax compliance and reviewing local tax reports
Accountable for statutory audits and supporting external auditors

 

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure robust financial governance and oversight, including adherence to financial regulations, standards, and best practice
Responsible for cost control of overheads, capital expenditures, and other operating expenses
Responsible for defining operational finance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to be reported on within the region
Challenges constructively and respectfully wherever required against market and functional plans which may lead to financial risk or where there are inadequate controls in place
Prepare regular updates for the team on changes in legislation or other requirements which are relevant to the region
Establish and oversee a comprehensive risk management framework for areas of responsibility, including the identification, analysis, mitigation and reporting of financial risks

 

Skills needed for this role:
Qualified ACA /ACCA (or equivalent) and/or bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field
Proven experience in a senior financial controlling within a sizable organisation 
•    Strong and current technical accounting skills, with the ability to lead and educate a diverse and dispersed team
Proficient in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, SAP) and familiarity with analytics platforms and technologies
